Finishing Viscose Woven Fabric Using Regenerated Bombyx Mori Silk Fibroin
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this paper, silk fibroin from Vietnamese Bombyx mori cocoons was dissolved by a lithium bromide/ethanol/water solution and regenerated onto a viscose woven fabric via the padding method. The fibroin deposits on the fabric were characterised by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and color measurement. The physico-mechanical properties of the fabrics with and without fibroin treatment were investigated. The analysed results presented an increase of the drapability, a slight decrease of the air permeability and breaking strength values, and a moderate decline of the breaking elongation value of the silk fibroin treated samples compared to the neat fabric.
