Journal of Science and Technology (JST)

1. Open Access Statement

Journal of Science and Technology (JST) is a fully Open Access journal. All articles published in JST are made immediately and permanently available online, free of charge, without subscription, registration, or access barriers.

JST does not apply any embargo period. Open access is granted upon publication.

The journal is committed to disseminating high-quality scientific research widely and equitably, supporting academic exchange and the advancement of science and technology.

2. Definition of Open Access

Open Access in Journal of Science and Technology (JST) means that all published articles are freely and permanently available online without financial, legal, or technical barriers.

Accordingly, Open Access allows users to:

  • Read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles;
  • Reuse the content for any lawful purpose;

without financial, legal, or technical barriers, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.

3. Scope of Open Access

This Open Access Policy applies to all article types published in JST, including but not limited to:

  • Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Short Communications / Letters

All published content is openly accessible via the official JST website.

4. Copyright Ownership

Copyright of all articles published in Journal of Science and Technology (JST) is retained by the author(s).

By publishing in JST, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable right to:

  • Publish the final Version of Record;
  • Distribute and publicly communicate the work;
  • Archive and preserve the published content.

5. Licensing and User Rights

5.1 Default License

The default license applied by JST is the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

Under CC BY 4.0:

  • Users may share, copy, redistribute, adapt, and build upon the work;
  • Use is permitted for both commercial and non-commercial purposes;
  • Proper attribution to the author(s) and source is required.

5.2 Available License Options

Upon acceptance, authors may choose one of the following Creative Commons licenses offered by JST:

  • CC BY (Attribution) – default
  • CC BY-SA (Attribution–ShareAlike)
  • CC BY-NC (Attribution–NonCommercial)
  • CC BY-ND (Attribution–NoDerivatives)
  • CC BY-NC-SA (Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike)
  • CC BY-NC-ND (Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives)

All Creative Commons licenses require attribution (BY).

The selected license determines the reuse permissions granted to all users and is clearly indicated:

  • On the article landing page;
  • In the full-text PDF of the article.

6. Permissions and Reuse

No additional permission from the author(s) or JST is required to reuse content published in the journal, including text, figures, and tables, provided that the reuse complies with the terms of the selected Creative Commons license and proper citation is given.

7. Author Self-Archiving and Sharing

Authors are permitted to:

  • Deposit the published version of their article in institutional or subject repositories;
  • Share their work on personal or academic websites and scholarly networks.

There are no restrictions or embargoes on self-archiving, provided that the original publication in JST is acknowledged.

8. Article Processing Charges (APC)

To support editorial processing, peer review management, production, online hosting, and long-term archiving, JST applies an Article Processing Charge (APC).

Current APC Policy:

  • USD 80 (or 2,200,000 VND) for a standard manuscript of up to 8 pages
  • USD 15 (or 400,000 VND) per additional page beyond 8 pages
  • Maximum length: 12 pages

9. Peer Review and Editorial Independence

Open Access publication in JST does not compromise editorial standards.

  • Scientific quality;
  • Originality;
  • Methodological rigor;
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope;
  • Compliance with ethical standards.

10. Long-Term Accessibility and Preservation

JST participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to ensure long-term digital preservation of all published content. Through PKP PN, journal content is securely archived and preserved for future access, even in the event that the journal website becomes unavailable.

11. Transparency and Compliance

  • International open access standards;
  • Best practices in scholarly publishing;
  • The evaluation criteria of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
